DIY Filmmaking Challenge: Retro Nightmares.
This free online masterclass explores the creation of low-budget horror films. We’ll be working with writer/director Prano Bailey-Bond (
CENSOR, Nasty) to explore the genre and look at effective ways of creating worlds on a low budget, and how to maximise your resources and environment to do this.

Prano Bailey-Bond
Prano Bailey-Bond is a London-based filmmaker, originally from Wales, whose body of work invokes imaginative worlds, fusing a dark vocabulary with eerie allure. Her feature-length debut, CENSOR, was released in 2021 following its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival and its European premiere at the Berlinale. Backed by the BFI, Film4 and Ffilm Cymru Wales, CENSOR received 9 BIFA nominations, winning the Méliès d’Or at Sitges Film Festival and being voted by critics as one of the best British films of the 21st Century.
Named a ‘Director to Watch’ by Variety, a BAFTA Breakthrough, and a Screen International ‘Star of Tomorrow’, Prano is an alumnus of the Berlin Talent Campus, as well as BFI NETWORK@LFF, which sought to identify original new voices, iconoclasts and risk takers. Her strong body of shorts have played around the world, earning her critical acclaim.
Prano is currently developing projects with Film4, Element Pictures, Number 9 Films, Anonymous Content, and more. She is represented by Casarotto Ramsay & Associates, and in the USA by United Talent Agency.
