Submit your work to Northern Exposure - our short film night showcasing local filmmaking talent.

Northern Exposure is the short film night from Film Hub North. Since 2018, we’ve showcased the most exciting filmmaking talent from the North of England at venues and festivals across the region.

Throughout 2025, Northern Exposure is being taken over by a group of young, emerging film curators. Our next screening series takes place in Spring 2025 - we’ll be touring to Leeds' INDIs Film Festival/Carriageworks (4 March), Manchester International Film Festival (15 March), and Storyhouse, Chester (26 March).

Filmmakers based in the North of England can submit their shorts for consideration now. Selected filmmakers will have their work showcased at each venue, and will be invited to take part in post-screening Q&As where possible.

Films can take any form, genre or narrative approach. There’s only a few practical rules to be aware of - these can all be found on our FilmFreeway page, which is linked below.

Submissions for this round of screenings close on Monday 6 January 2025.
