Our North is a programming fund that showcases the creativity of the region's curators, giving them the freedom to realise adventurous pieces of work.

It's there to allow programmers to pursue their own curatorial interests and deliver screenings that make meaningful, direct connections with local audiences.

Our North is about amplifying the unique programming voice of each exhibitor in the region; supporting them to develop projects that are ambitious, that show their approach to curation at its best, and that tell the story of their community in creative ways. These programmes might give audiences the chance to see local life reflected on screen, or present the opportunity to experience the North from a fresh perspective through seasons of world cinema exploring the histories and cultures we share with our neighbours.

Programming grants can supplement existing projects, kick-start new approaches to curation and support one-off screenings. Our North is suitable for all programmers: from veteran curators who need funding to make their dream season possible, to organisations new to exhibition who are keen to explore how film can enrich their local community.
