** Update, May 2023: applications for the 2023 edition of Northern Exposure Young Film Programmers are now closed. Meet our 2023 programmers. **

Northern Exposure Young Film Programmers is a new training scheme for young people aged 16-25 who are passionate about film and looking to get into the film industry.

The Young Programmes scheme brings together a group of film lovers from across the North through a series of monthly online meetings. Participants learn how the film industry works and what goes into hosting a successful screening. After receiving training from industry experts, they get the chance to take over Northern Exposure - Film Hub North’s regular short film night, which showcases the best of Northern filmmaking - and deliver screenings at cinemas across the region.

In addition to group training sessions, Young Film Programmers take part in one-to-one career mentoring conversations, and receive support to attend one of the North’s exciting film festivals.

Northern Exposure Young Film Programmers is part of our BFI Film Academy programme for young film fans. BFI Film Academy offers opportunities for ambitious 16-25 year olds, anywhere in the UK, to get to know more about film and how to forge a career in the screen industries.
