In the summer heatwave of 2006, a gang of teenage girls in South London face strange sexual awakenings driven by gossip and the mysterious ritual of "shagbands" - small plastic bracelets representing the wearer's sexual history.

When Chantelle and Mona return home to waste some time, their day is thrown into turmoil with the arrival of Chantelle's abusive family and an undercurrent of imminent violence.
