Funding support events for filmmakers in the North, running throughout April and May 2023.


The 2023 round of BFI NETWORK England short film funding is now open, giving filmmakers across the country the chance to apply for up to £25,000 to support production costs on short films.
Ahead of applications closing at midday on Tuesday 23 May, we’re hosting a series of events to help filmmakers in the North learn more about the funding available, refine their ideas and talk to our BFI Talent Executives about how to make their proposals stand out.

Online Filmmaker Roundtables

New to our work? Our regular Online Filmmaker Roundtables are an opportunity to meet with our Talent Development Team for the first time, and to connect with other filmmakers in the North.
Throughout April and May, our roundtables will focus on the 2023 BFI NETWORK England short film funding - come along and get advice direct from our team.

BFI NETWORK Funding Webinar


Tuesday 25 April, 18:00 [rescheduled from Tuesday 11 April]
We’re teaming up with BFI NETWORK colleagues from across England for an online panel discussion introducing the short film fund.
Plus, partners from Doc Society, Northern Ireland Screen, Short Circuit and Ffilm Cymru Wales will be in attendance to share information on other opportunities open to filmmakers.

Online Script Mixer

Script Mixers bring together Writers, Directors and Producers through a series of breakout rooms, with the aim of forming new filmmaking teams and developing applications for the 2023 funding round.
