Presentation outline:
Storyhouse’s Mission to Champion Young Talent
Nicky Beaumont, Head of Cinema will explore how the venue is creating exciting opportunities for young people and emerging talent in film. Nicky will share how initiatives like the Young Film Programmers scheme are helping 16–25 year olds gain hands-on experience in curating and running film events, and will explore how their long-term commitment to young people is embedded into the organisation.
Unlocking Creativity: Inside the Young Storyhouse Programme & Practical workshop
Lottie Lazenby, Children and Young People Manager will introduce Young Storyhouse – the venue’s vibrant programme designed to give young people practical, hands-on experience in the arts. In this session, Lottie will outline the range of creative opportunities available, the skills young participants can develop, who the programmes are aimed at, and how Storyhouse identifies and recruits young people to take part.
Lottie will then lead a practical workshop focusing on how participants can approach their project with young people in mind.
Reel Talk: Growing Film Community
Alex Goldsmith, Cinema Marketing Assistant will share the story behind Reel Talk, a free monthly meet-up that grew into a full pay-what-you-can screening programme. Alex will also cover the marketing and communications strategies that helped grow Reel Talk, including the role of the Young Storyhouse Card – a free membership for 16–25 year-olds offering £5 cinema tickets and other perks.
