The 2024 round of BFI NETWORK's Short Film Fund is now open! The fund gives filmmakers across the country the chance to apply for up to £25,000 to support production costs on short films.
We're hosting a series of events to help Northern filmmakers learn more about funding available, meet collaborators and form teams, refine their ideas and talk to our BFI Talent Executives about how to make their proposals stand out.
Over the next few weeks, we'll be updating this page with more events - so keep an eye out!
Filmmaker Mixers

Our regular monthly BFI NETWORK Filmmaker Mixers are informal meet-ups for filmmakers based in the North of England. They take place each month and tour to different venues across the region. Mixers are free to attend. Just sign up and show up!

This event is on zoom and will have live BSL interpretation. Closed captions will also be available.

Access Support One to Ones
We are committed to making our funding accessible to all so we’re offering one to ones with deaf, disabled and neurodivergent filmmakers and their collaborators looking to make applications to the BFI NETWORK Short Film Fund.
The one to ones offer filmmakers and teams support to help navigate the application process, understand the available funding and ask any questions you might have about the BFI NETWORK Short Film Fund.
One to Ones are 30 minutes each and available in two slots:

Online Filmmaker Roundtable

Your final opportunity to ask the BFI NETWORK team questions about the short film fund before it closes on Thursday 9 May.
Online Filmmaker Roundtables give writers, directors and producers the opportunity to connect with Film Hub North's filmmaker development team over Zoom.
Each roundtable is hosted by our BFI NETWORK Talent Executives and involves up to 30 filmmakers.
