in cinemas across in the North

Submit your work to Northern Exposure - our short film night showcasing local filmmaking talent.

Throughout 2024 and 2025, Northern Exposure is being taken over by a group of young, emerging film curators. The next film selection will be screened at cinemas across the North throughout July and August.

Northern Exposure is the short film night from Film Hub North. Since 2018, we’ve showcased the most exciting filmmaking talent from the North of England at venues and festivals across the region.

Our next screening series takes place in Autumn 2024. We’ll be touring to: Storyhouse, Chester; The Dukes, Lancaster and Leigh Film Society, Leigh Film Factory.

Filmmakers based in the North of England can submit their shorts for consideration now. Selected filmmakers will have their work showcased at each venue, and will be invited to take part in post-screening Q&As where possible.

Films can take any form, genre or narrative approach. There’s only a few practical rules to be aware of - these can all be found on our FilmFreeway page, which is linked below.

Submissions for this round of screenings close on Monday 9 September.
