BFI Film Academy Short Courses train and inspire aspiring filmmakers aged 16-19. Over the course of several weeks, participants learn about the film industry, hear from expert mentors and get the chance to create their own short film from start to finish.

Short Courses are available across the North of England, and are delivered by leading arts organisations who can help you break into the film industry.

BFI Film Academy Yorkshire and Humber

Sheffield, Leeds, Bradford, and Scarborough
 
Showroom Cinema (Sheffield), Leeds Young Film (Leeds and Bradford), and Reel Solutions (Scarborough) are delighted to work in partnership to deliver four BFI Film Academy Courses across Yorkshire and Humber between September 2024 - February 2025.

BFI Film Academy North West 

Liverpool, Blackpool, Rochdale Cumbria, Manchester, and Greater Manchester
 
HOME are excited to announce that they will be overseeing 5 Film Academies for 16 - 19 year olds, in partnership with the British Film Institute. The North West Film Academies will run in partnership with FACT in Liverpool, Aunty Social in Blackpool, Touchstones in Rochdale and Signal Film & Media in Cumbria.

BFI Film Academy North East 

Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Shields, Crook, and Middlesbrough
 
There are four locations throughout North East England where you can sign up and take a course this autumn. The programmes are led by Jack Drum Arts and delivered across Beacon Films (Newcastle Upon Tyne), Act 2 Cam (North Shields), Jack Drum Arts (Crook), and Writers’ Block NE (Middlesbrough).
