The BFI has launched 12 Film Academy Hubs to help underrepresented young people to access local training and build skills where the industry most needs them.
BFI Film Academy is a free, UK-wide training programme for 16 to 25 year olds looking to break into the industry.
The Hubs aim to create pathways into careers across the screen industries, while equipping young people with key transferable life skills to pursue future employment.
Participants will have access to hands-on introductory film courses, networking opportunities, industry experts, and personalised support to help build skills, grow confidence and take their next step towards a career in the industry.
The initiative is part of the BFI Film Academy programme and is supported with funding from the Department of Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), alongside support from BFI National Lottery, Northern Ireland Screen, Screen Scotland and the Welsh government via Creative Wales.

Delivered by Showroom (Sheffield) in partnership with Leeds Young Film (Leeds and Bradford) and Reel Solutions (Scarborough)
Delivered by HOME (Manchester) in partnership with Aunty Social (Blackpool), Touchstones (Rochdale), FACT (Liverpool), and Signal Film & Media (Barrow-in-Furness).
Delivered by Tyneside Cinema (Newcastle) in partnership with Beacon Films (Newcastle), Jack Drum Arts (County Durham), and Writer’s Block North East (Middlesbrough).
