Submit your work to Northern Exposure - our short film night showcasing local filmmaking talent.

Submissions for Northern Exposure are now open! Throughout 2024 and 2025, Northern Exposure is being taken over by a group of young, emerging film curators. The next film selection will be screened at cinemas across the North throughout July and August. 

Northern Exposure is going back on the road, bringing the best of the region’s short films to venues across the North throughout July and August 2024.

Our  Summer 2024 season takes place at: Showroom, Sheffield (27 July) and FACT, Liverpool (20 August), with more dates to be announced soon.

Filmmakers based in the North of England can submit their shorts for consideration now. Selected filmmakers will have their work showcased at each venue, and will be invited to take part in post-screening Q&As where possible.

Films can take any form, genre or narrative approach. There’s only a few practical rules to be aware of - these can all be found on our FilmFreeway page, which is linked below.

Submissions for this round of screenings close on Monday 10 June.

If you're 16-25 and interested in film programme curation, you may want to apply for our 2024 Young Programmers scheme. Applications close on Monday 3 June.
