Northern Exposure: Sci-Fi
Our short film night showcases a brave new world of Northern sci-fi

Date: 20 Jul 2020
Time: 18:00
Location: Online

Our Northern Exposure Short Film Night is back for another online instalment: same format (great films + friendly guests), but an all new genre in focus. Join us and filmmakers from across the North for an informal evening of films and chat from 6pm on Monday, 20 July.

This month's selections are inspired by our Genre in Focus: Sci-Fi season; a celebration of cinema's ability to conjure brave new worlds, other dimensions, imagined futures and altered realities. The line-up includes Chromophobia from Northern genre specialists Gavin Williams and Mark Lediard, fresh from its berth at the renowned Trieste Science+Fiction Festival 2019. Expect post-apocalyptic wastelands, a sinister alien presence and... paintball.

Our BFI NETWORK team will be joined by the showcased filmmakers for a post-screening Q&A. We'll talk about the work they've shared and their approaches to working within the sci-fi genre, as well as answering questions from the audience.
