Musicals - the Greatest Shows on Film Take part in the nationwide season
New funding opportunities to support your song and dance spectaculars.
From October 2019 to January 2020, we're joining organisations across the country to celebrate Musicals - the Greatest Shows on Film. This upcoming season is the UK's greatest ever celebration of musicals on the big screen: a welcome revival of one of cinema's best loved and recently resurgent genres.
New funding opportunities have just launched to help exhibitors get involved with their own projects celebrating song and dance in film and television. We can't wait to see the variety of responses programmers in the North have to this year's wide-ranging theme, and we're looking forward to a final programme that's as kaleidoscopic as a Busby Berkeley showstopper. Read on to find out more about the support available.
Funding opportunities for BFI Film Audience Network major programmes are managed by our colleagues at Film Hub Midlands, but are open to organisations throughout the UK. Support of £1,500 - £12,000 is available for mid-sized Musicals projects such as venue takeovers, extended seasons or touring programmes across the North. Expressions of interest are open now and close on Friday, 2 August.

Major programmes funding opportunities are usually very popular - to ensure your proposal has the best chance of success, we encourage exhibitors to reach out to the Film Hub Midlands team to discuss their projects and ask for any advice you might require. More information on Musicals, upcoming funding opportunities as part of the season and contact details for the major programmes team can be found on the Film Hub Midlands website.
