Ignition Awards are the fund for exhibitors who want to take their audience development to the next level.

They're for organisations who have the ability to pilot new film programmes, trial focused audience outreach work and build their successes into sustainable activity.

In 2019, our Ignition Awards focus on supporting projects that align with our key strategic objectives of promoting equality of access within the exhibition industry, developing young audiences and increasing engagement with screen heritage material. Beyond these key priorities, we're committed to improving access to independent, British and international cinema right across our region, and are looking to support organisations addressing areas of low film provision in areas such as County Durham, Cumbria, East Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire, Northumberland and Tyne & Wear.

Ignition Awards are open to a range of exhibitors and supported projects can vary in length, scale and format. All activity, however, should take place between May 2019 and March 2020. Successful proposals should have ambitions to continue beyond this period, serving audiences in the long-term and sustaining activity after the initial phase of Film Hub North funding.

We've updated the Ignition Awards submission process to make it easier to develop your ideas into successful proposals. In the first instance, there's no application form or intensive administration - just a brief project outline to kick-start a conversation with our team. Take a look at the Funding Guidelines to learn more about how to get involved.
