These sessions are free to attend and will be diving into building a career in Film & TV, pitching to platforms, and developing characters behind the scenes.

China Moo-Young, who recently directed Dolly Alderton’s TV adaptation of Everything I Know About Love, discusses her career so far and how to make the step from shorts to TV. She has worked on projects such as Intergalactic, Pennyworth, Secret Diary of a Call Girl, Call the Midwife, Harlots and Thirteen and her short film Liar screened at film festivals including Cannes and Raindance back in 2006. Join us as we look into how you can build a career in Film and TV.

Simon Bird (Days of the Bagnold Summer, The Inbetweeners) discusses how to work with actors in bringing a character to life. He’ll talk about finding the right balance between the director’s vision, the actor’s instincts and the writer’s intentions when telling a collaborative story from his unique perspective of both actor and director.

Navi Lamba (Head of Talent Development BBC), Jon Davenport (Digital Content Consultant) and Charlie Hyland (Digital Commissioning Editor Channel 4 Comedy) head up a panel discussing how digital platforms can play a part in testing and breaking through characters with audiences, what broadcasters/commissioners are looking for and how writers/writer – performers can navigate that journey.
