Billy-Jo is a witty, dog-loving young girl, struggling to keep her grip on reality after losing her beloved Nan. It’s a time of increasing surveillance and monitoring by CCTV, but in contrast, Billy-Jo’s life feels empty of gaze from loved ones. She is at first uncomfortable with being watched by these devices, but glad of some ‘attention.’ She begins to ‘connect’ with the cameras, building a cautious relationship seeing them as a link to the memory of her Nan. This intimate portrait of a young girl’s unique view of the world deals with themes of grief, loneliness and surveillance. This is a story exploring the internal tug of war between our vulnerability and our belief in our own resilience.
