Join us in Sheffield for a special filmmaker roundtable with debut feature director Daisy-May Hudson.

Film Hub North and Reclaim The Frame invite filmmakers, documentary makers and screen-based creatives of marginalised genders to meet with BAFTA Breakthrough director of Lollipop, Daisy-May Hudson, in a roundtable setting to explore making cinema with the capacity to heal.

Daisy-May’s collaborative and trauma-informed practise has so far produced three feature films: her first, Half Way (2017), turned the lens on her own family’s experience of a homelessness hostel and was nominated for a Best Documentary BIFA and Grierson Documentary Award. Her second, Holloway (2024, co-directed with Sophie Compton), brought together six incredible women who had previously been imprisoned in the largest women’s prison in Europe, won the audience award at BFI London Film Festival and will be released theatrically in June. Her third, and first fiction feature, Lollipop (2024), tells the story of Molly, a young woman released from prison as she battles to regain custody of her children.

Together with Daisy-May and Head of Film Hub North Manon Euler, participants are invited to join this sharing circle which aims to create a safe space to explore ‘alchemy through storytelling’ and care-centred approaches to working with actors and documentary contributors with lived experience.
