Bolton International Film Festival returns for 2024, with its eighth edition taking place in-person from 2-6 October and virtually 9-20 October.
As part of the festival’s Industry programme, we’ve teamed up with our friends at BFI DocSociety for a double helping of events for filmmakers. Catch our BFI NETWORK team in Bolton on Thursday 3 October for a showcase of the freshest films on our shorts slate, followed by a Filmmaker Roundtable where you can put questions to showcase filmmakers and the Film Hub North and BFI DocSociety teams.

An eclectic mix of scripted and unscripted shorts supported by Film Hub North and BFI DocSociety. Films screening in the programme are:

- Merpeople of Mexborough, dir. Chelsea O’Connor
- The Archive: Queer Nigerians, dir. Simisolaoluwa Akande

Join Film Hub North and BFI Doc Society for an informal Filmmaker Roundtable. This is an opportunity to meet our team, find out more about the funding and career development support we provide, and connect with fellow filmmakers. You can put questions our way or if you’re interested in writing, directing or producing across scripted or docs we’ll have some filmmaker guests who can offer their experiences working on BFI supported shorts.
Hosted by Ben Taylor (Talent Executive, Film Hub North) and Sanne Jehoul (Support Programme Manager, BFI Doc Society)
This is strictly limited to 20 places and you must sign up to take part. Please do not sign up if you don't intend on taking up a place at the Roundtable.
The Roundtable will be followed by Networking in the KUDOS Gallery, 18:00-20:00.
