Festival Strategy Workshop Helping filmmakers navigate the festival landscape
Our BFI NETWORK team are hosting a Festival Strategy Workshop at Tyneside Cinema on Monday, 15 July, providing local filmmakers with a chance to learn more about the festival circuit.
The session will be led by Festival Strategist and Programmer Liz Harkman (Bristol Festivals, Locarno Film Festival, Flickerfest) who will talk attendees through the competitive festival landscape. We'll be discussing which festivals are right for your project, how to put together a successful festival strategy for your film and what to expect when you embark on your festival journey. Liz will also be available for bookable 1-2-1 meetings with filmmakers following the workshop. And, after that, our team will be heading to a screening of the Aesthetica Short Film Festival Award-winning Film Tour for a showcase of some of the best recent work screened at York's annual celebration of short film.
The Festival Strategy Workshop is free to attended and open to filmmakers based in the North of England. Places are limited, to book your spot please email our BFI NETWORK team using the subject line 'Festival Strategy Workshop'. You should include an overview of your festival experience to date, including festivals that you've previously submitted to or attended and any success you've had.
We're able to arrange 1-2-1 meetings with Liz depending on the suitability of your project. If you'd like to be considered for a meeting, please also include a screening link to the film you would like to discuss and details about your current festival strategy.
The deadline to RSVP is 17:00 on Wednesday, 10 July. Filmmakers will be notified if they have a place at the workshop by Friday, 12 July. If you have any queries about the about the event, you can reach our team via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or on the phone at 0191 2505058.
