New funding for exhibitors

Micro-grants and professional development support now live

Published: 19 Nov 2020

New support available for one-off screenings, special events and professional development - both in-person and online.

Film Hub North has relaunched its Propeller Awards micro-grant scheme and Bursary Awards support for professional development following a temporary pause in March 2020. In the intervening months, we’ve redirected the bulk of our National Lottery funding to sector relief efforts through the Covid-19 Resilience Fund and the Film Exhibition Fund. By relaunching our micro-grant and professional development schemes now, we hope to continue to support the North’s exhibition sector as it works to re-engage audiences with cultural cinema - including those organisations who have been unable to access our previous funds.
The overall aims of the Propeller and Bursary Awards remain the same - to support exhibitors to deliver culturally valuable film events, and to provide them with the skills to do so - but we have made some important changes to reflect new ways of working within the sector. In-person, online and hybrid activity are all now eligible for funding. And, recognising the challenging circumstances the exhibitors in our network are operating in, we’ve also simplified our application processes and reduced the time it takes to receive a decision.
More information on the relaunched funds is available below. If you’d like to discuss these funding opportunities or anything else with our team, you can book a 1-2-1 Hub Surgery now.
