International Women's Day is on Sunday, 8 March, but we're starting the celebrations a few days early with an evening of short films showcasing female filmmakers based in the North and Scotland. Join us at The Cumberland Arms, Newcastle on Thursday, 5 March for a selection of films curated by BFI NETWORK Talent Executive Roxy McKenna and Saltaire-based producer Hollie Bryan.
In addition to catching an exciting programme that includes Nosebleed (Luna Carmoon, 2018) and The Best Is Yet to Come (Abena Taylor-Smith, 2019), local filmmakers will have the chance to meet our team and chat about the support available through our talent development schemes. Following the screening, we'll be hosting a panel discussion featuring Ami Nisa (Newcastle University), Lesley Anne Rose (Artist), Rachel Pronger (Festival & Cinema Programmer) and Jen Corcoran (Producer).
Tickets are free and available to book via the Eventbrite link below. And the International Women's Day celebrations continue at The Cumberland Arms across the weekend - take a look at their Facebook page for more information on a packed three days of music, talks and comedy.
