BFI and BFI FAN are partnering with Historic England to deliver a second round of online Carbon Literacy courses for FAN exhibitors across the Nations and Regions.
Historic England, and Heritage Building and Places (amenity society) have developed a heritage led carbon literacy course, which is now being rolled out to heritage organisations.
This specific course is tailored for film exhibitors working with heritage buildings.
Carbon Literacy is a great early step for individuals and organisations to start thinking about the changes we all need to make to reduce our carbon emissions.
This is an entry level, action focused, carbon reduction training, developed especially for the Heritage sector, and aimed at small, medium and micro-organisations. The course looks at the science behind the climate emergency, the impacts on Heritage, the policy positions nationally and internationally, and the co-benefits for Heritage in making changes, as well as examples of Low Carbon Heritage.
The interactive online course takes place over two days, via Zoom, with a documentary to watch and a short task to do before the first session. At the end of the course, you will be asked to make two carbon reduction pledges, and in return will be certified as Carbon Literate.
If you have any access needs, please get in touch with us at info@filmhubnorth.org.uk.
Structure of the course
Session 1: Thursday 14 November 2024, 09.30 - 13:00
The £10 fee is to cover the cost of the Carbon Literacy Certificate you will receive upon completion of the course.
There are 15 places available on the course. Places will be allocated on a first come, first serve basis. Please note you need to be a FAN member to take part.
Depending on demand, other courses will be taking place early next year.
The course is delivered by Liz Power, Director of Historic Building & Places and hosted by Film Hub North on behalf of BFI Film Audience Network (FAN).
