Exhibitors Catch Up

An online discussion for film festivals in the North and the Midlands

Starts at 23 Jul 2020 15:00

Location Online

Our next online Exhibitors Catch Up is dedicated to film festivals, and a partnership with our colleagues at Film Hub Midlands means that we'll hear from festival teams working across both the North and the Midlands. Join us for our next discussion, taking place via Zoom, at 3pm on Thursday, 23 July.
Film festivals have been uniquely affected by the ongoing disruption to the exhibition sector. In normal times, a successful festival offers audiences exclusive content, a sense of local place-making and a party atmosphere - all things that might seem impossible in the current climate. Even as venues begin to reopen, the outlook for external event producers is still uncertain.
In this session, we'll discuss how festivals have responded to the Covid-19 pandemic. We'll consider the options facing festival producers - postponing events, moving online or adopting hybrid online/in-venue formats - as well as the practicalities and implications of delivering a festival in a new way. Our guest speakers are: Amy Smart, Partnerships & Interventions Manager at Birmingham-based Flatpack Festival, and Jen Hall, Festival Producer & Programmer at Manchester Animation Festival. Amy will share her experience of delivering an online festival during lockdown, while Jen will discuss how the MAF team are planning their upcoming edition in an unpredictable environment.

The session will be "meeting style" - rather than a webinar - and will last for 1hr. You can sign up at the registration link below.
After our guest speakers' presentations, there will be a Q&A session and an open forum for festival producers to discuss their strategies and share resources. You can submit questions and talking points in advance via the registration form.
