Film Hub North and BFI NETWORK are teaming up with BAFTA to present Edgar Wright - Comedy in the End Times: a special online in conversation event, taking place on Tuesday, 2 June. We're inviting filmmakers to join us for an online session with Edgar Wright, one of the UK's leading figures in screen comedy, where he will discuss his work and provide inspiration for fellow filmmakers as part of our ongoing Genre in Focus: Comedy season.
Wright will be there to chat about his Cornetto trilogy: the endlessly quotable, wildly successful triple header of Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World's End that cemented the director's status as a subversive master of genre filmmaking. Covering unlikely comedy ground from the zombie apocalypse to the rise of small town occultism to an alien invasion, these films demonstrate Wright's innate knack for finding humour in surprising places.
This is an opportunity to hear Wright discuss the trilogy in detail and pose your own questions to the filmmaker. He'll share invaluable insights into the process behind the films and what he thinks makes them funny, and will answer questions covering his career, distinct comedy style and maybe even his favourite flavour of Cornetto.
