Go green - sustainability mentoring programme for UK film exhibitors.
BFI FAN: Green Exhibitors Mentoring is a new programme supporting UK film exhibitors to take the next steps in their sustainability journey.
Green Exhibitors Mentoring is a nationwide programme, which will bring together up to 8 film organisations from across the country. Applications are open to all members of the BFI Film Audience Network’s regional and national Film Hubs.
Running from March - July 2024, the programme includes group sessions and one-to-one mentoring meetings where participants can gain knowledge, share experiences and challenges, and plan the next stage of their environmental strategies.
Course content will be tailored to the participants’ needs, but suggested areas of focus include: fundraising, capacity building, advocacy, circularity, carbon accounting and management, capital development, energy management, buildings and retrofitting.
Upon completing the programme, each participant will receive a development bursary of up to £500 to support their sustainability work going forward. This bursary might go towards further training, consultancy sessions, a development opportunity, or attendance at relevant events.
Who is it for?
This round of Green Exhibitors Mentoring is intended for film exhibitors with some experience of incorporating sustainable practices into their work.
Applicants should have ambitions of improving their environmental sustainability, and should have a good idea of the main challenges that they need support to resolve.
We are particularly interested in organisations who are operating in areas of low cultural provision and/or socio-economic deprivation.
We especially welcome applications from black and global majority-led, disabled people-led, women-led and LGBTQAI+-led organisations, and organisations actively engaging with diverse, underserved and under-represented audiences.
This is a nationwide programme, open to all members of the BFI Film Audience Network’s regional and national Film Hubs. We hope to see all regions and nations of the UK represented within the programme cohort.
BFI FAN: Green Exhibitors Mentoring is delivered by Film Hub North and Zoe Rasbash, Environmental Emergencies Action Researcher at Watershed, on behalf of the BFI Film Audience Network.
