Explore how relaxed screenings can create more accessible, inclusive and welcoming cinema experiences at our online members' session.

We will be joined by Midnight Memphis, founder of Daydream Cinema, an autistic-owned film exhibition organisation focusing on accessible screenings, events and programming opportunities for neurodivergent and disabled people.

Since launching in 2023, Daydream Cinema has worked alongside film exhibitors, health and social care partners, community organisations, and neurodivergent and disabled people to explore how screenings and events can become more accessible, welcoming and inclusive.

In this session, Midnight will introduce the Relaxed Cinema Project and explore how film exhibition organisations can get involved. They’ll share practical advice on integrating relaxed screenings into wider programming, developing meaningful relationships with neurodivergent audiences and community partners, and identifying ways to make accessibility a more considered part of everyday organisational practice.

With around 20 years’ experience in film exhibition, Midnight brings a wealth of knowledge spanning cinema access, operations, marketing, projection and programming. Their extensive Front of House experience in cinemas and arts organisations also informs their understanding of the wider, often intersecting barriers that audiences face when accessing cultural spaces, as well as those experienced by staff working within them.
