The UK's film archives are home to a huge array of moving image works, spanning more than a century of cinema history. But how can you access this rich heritage and use archive footage in your own films?
To help you find out, we're hosting a Working with Archive Film roundtable at 6pm on Tuesday, 26 October. Join our BFI NETWORK team for a discussion bringing together filmmakers, artists and archivists.

During the session, we'll be taking a closer look at Lost Connections. This new, archive-based short film explores our extraordinary collective experience since March 2020, using the sights and sounds of the past.
Lost Connections draws on footage from almost 200 films held in collections across the country, and is the result of a unique collaboration between 12 of the UK’s Regional and National Film Archives. You can watch the film, for free, in advance of the session over on BFI Player.
We'll be joined by the team behind the film for a discussion about the production process and the practicalities of using archive footage in your own work. Joining our BFI NETWORK team are: Andy Burns (Yorkshire Film Archive), Hussina Raja (Artist), Emily Munro (National Library of Scotland) and Andy Robson (Film Hub North).
The registration deadline is: 12pm on Friday, 22 October. We'll confirm places shortly after the deadline and will pass on session login details then.

This event is free to attend and is open to filmmakers from across the UK. All you need to take part is a reliable internet connection and access to a device that supports video conferencing.
