Tyneside Cinema…where your passions go to enjoy themselves

At the Tyneside Cinema, we aim to give a trip to the pictures the sense of occasion it deserves by showing the best films in stylish and beautiful surroundings. Our varied programme ranges from brilliant films from all over the world to the best Hollywood has to offer. This experience is made even better by our luxury seating and fully licensed screens meaning you can enjoy a glass or bottle of whatever you fancy in the comfiest cinema seats in town.

You can also see live-via-satellite presentations of opera from the New York Metropolitan Opera House and theatre from the National Theatre in London, witness incredible digital art in our state-of-the-art Gallery space, and dine in style in the Tyneside Bar Café where we serve a delicious range of locally sourced food and drink.

As the last surviving Newsreel theatre still operating as a cinema full-time in the UK, our Grade II-listed building is an important, must-see piece of heritage, not just regionally but nationally too. It has been lovingly restored to preserve and celebrate the grandeur of its original 1937 art deco design and we show free, original newsreels every day.

As well as all the great movies and events that are on each and every day, there are plenty of ways for you to get involved at the Tyneside Cinema too, including film groups, book clubs, quizzes and loads of opportunities for young people.

The Tyneside Cinema is also a perfect place for city centre socialising. The warm and lively atmosphere here makes it a favourite spot for people of all ages to come and meet with friends for drinks, food, conversation, and, of course, film!
