We are delighted to announce that Manon Euler joins the team in April 2023 as the Head of Film Hub North.

In this role, Manon Euler will lead on Film Hub North’s strategic direction in line with the BFI’s Screen Culture 2033 strategy and develop opportunities for the Northern Exhibition sector, BFI NETWORK in the North and BFI Academy Plus.

Manon has been part of the BFI Film Audience Network since 2020 managing Major Programmes, a programming initiative showcasing ambitious curation and celebrating independent cinema across the UK, led by Film Hub Midlands. Prior to that, Manon worked for Sheffield Doc/Fest, first as Marketplace & Talent Coordinator, then as the Industry Programme Producer, working across the MeetMarket and other networking and industry initiatives. Manon also worked on Nordisk Panorama's the Nordic Short and Documentary Film Festival - 2017 Market edition.

Since 2019, Manon has been on the preselection team for Glasgow Short Film Festival. She is often involved in panels, assessment and Q&A moderation (This Way Up, Cinema for All, Celluloid Screams, Doc/Fest.) and was a co-programmer for Doc/Fest 2020 Northern Focus strand. She holds an MA in Film & Media Studies from Copenhagen University, a BA in Cultural Mediation from Paris Sorbonne and a DipHe in Literature & Humanities.

Manon has this to say about the appointment…

I am thrilled to be joining Film Hub North at such a pivotal moment as we step into the first years of BFI Screen Culture 2033.  The North has been my home since moving to the UK, and it’s a privilege to take this opportunity to support such a dynamic, diverse and vibrant region.  I cannot wait to continue the brilliant work Sally Folkard and the team have been doing; nurturing and championing new and emerging regional talents, giving children and young people opportunities to engage with film regardless of background and circumstances, as well as supporting FHN exhibitors in their commitment to offering audiences a rich, accessible and diverse screen culture.

Sally Folkard, who concludes her role as the Strategic Manager of Film Hub North at the end of February to take on the role of Head of Screen and Cultural Engagement at Bradford’s National Science and Media Museum says…

Watching Film Hub North grow over the last 10 years and working alongside an inspiring team focussed on supporting the independent film sector in the North has been incredibly rewarding and a privilege.  FHN, the rest of BFI FAN, and the BFI NETWORK play such a key role in supporting, diversifying, and strengthening the UK film ecosystem and I have been honoured to have been part of an incredibly passionate community who are dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what the region has to offer.  I’m so excited to see FHN evolve with Manon’s leadership.  She joins an ambitious and hugely talented team at an exciting time as the Hub develops its strategic regional priorities; and continues to work with FAN nationally to advocate for inclusion and resilience across the sector.
