We’re excited to announce that applications for the 2023 editions of FHN x NFTS: Director Training and Script Lab are now open.

Our filmmaker training programmes help creatives based in the North of England to improve their skills, grow their networks and gain valuable experience. In addition to training early-career Writers, Directors and Producers, our courses also support Creatives working in other disciplines to make a start on their filmmaking careers.

Alumni of our training programmes have gone on to secure BFI NETWORK Short Film Funding, create remarkable short film work, and land exciting new roles in the industry.

Read on for more information about our FHN x NFTS: Director Training and Script Lab programmes. Applications for both courses close at 17:00 on Monday 5 June.

FHN x NFTS: Director Training

FHN x NFTS: Director Training provides 8 Creatives with a hands-on learning experience delivered by our partners at the National Film and Television School.

Taking place on-site at NFTS Leeds, the programme is an intensive, 3-day course where participants will find their filmmaking voice and gain practical experience working with cast and crew.
