We're thrilled to be presenting BFI NETWORK x LIFF as part of Leeds International Film Festival 2020. Running from 16-18 November, this online events programme will add a focus on local filmmaking talent to West Yorkshire's annual celebration of global cinema.

The BFI NETWORK x LIFF programme provides a range of industry insights and opportunities to filmmakers at various stages in their career. We'll be hosting days dedicated to feature and short filmmaking, running sessions exploring everything from development to distribution, and delivering special events looking behind the scenes on our shorts slate and features in the festival's Official Selection.

BFI NETWORK Shorts Showcase

A cherrypicked programme of shorts celebrating the quality and breadth of our recent slate - from period horror to contemporary thrillers. Available to view on LIFF Player from 12-30 November, with a special filmmaker Q&A taking place live on the 16th.

Feature Film Early Development Surgeries

Online 1-2-1 meeting for filmmakers in the North with feature films in early development. Projects must be at pre-script stage - our BFI NETWORK Talent Executive Roxy McKenna is available to discuss the support we can provide.

Debut Feature in Focus: Arracht

Arracht is Tom Sullivan's striking, gaelic language tale of the Great Famine - available to rent on LIFF Player until 26 November. In this session, we'll hear Tom chat about his filmmaking journey and the process of making his multi award-winning debut feature.

Feature Development Mixer

An online meet up for writers/writer-directors who are currently developing their debut feature and searching for a producer to collaborate with. This session will introduce filmmakers based in the North of England to prospective producers with the aim of forging new connections.

Short Film Funding Roundtables

Applications to the BFI NETWORK Short Film Fund close on 30 November 2020. In these group sessions, we'll introduce filmmakers in England to the fund and explore how they can make their projects stand out. Also joining us are BFI NETWORK Talent Executives from London, the Midlands and the South East.

Short Films from Script to Screen

Hear from a panel of experienced shorts producers as they demystify the short film production process and distribution life cycle. Get advice and tips from Rebecca Mark Lawson, Maria Caruana Galizia, Barrington Robinson and Byron McNally.
