Last Laugh (12A) Written by BAFTA WINNER JOHN GODBER and Directed by AWARD WINNING DANIEL COLL
When your life’s a joke it’s time to stand up! This superb comedy written by John Godber and directed by award-winning director Daniel Coll will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. We follow college lecturer Martin Dawson in his hope to escape from obscurity by having a screenplay made into a film. We witness his struggles with his relationship with his wife and children, his mistress and film agent - along with his overbearing parents played by John Godber and Jane Thornton. Martin finds himself at an open mic spot at a local comedy club in front of a packed house and during the performance we see painfully hilarious flashbacks of his life. All the pathos and comic talent you could expect from Godber is evident as our hero endures an insane weekend in Whitby with his parents. This film is a universal story that resonates with us all. A moving and mad comedy illustrating the sometimes confusing and conflicting nature of love of all kinds. Based on the stage play Winter Breaks and starring Nick Figgis, John Godber and Jane Thornton.
