Through the DunesBurying a family tradition
It's a tradition in Lily's family that, after each Christmas, they drive to Formby dunes to bury their old tree. However, tradition also dictates that Lily must stay in the car. Meanwhile, her dad, Ian, marches through the cold with his own elderly father in tow and tries to complete that year's ritual as quickly as possible.
When Lily's time to join the outing finally comes, a confrontation with Ian casts into sharp relief the bad habits he's fallen into as a distant father and a frustrated son.
