Join BFI NETWORK partners Film Hub North and BFI Doc Society for an informal talent mixer at the Tyneside Cinema for Newcastle-based independent filmmakers and doc-curious creatives.

The mixer will follow on from a public screening of NASCONDINO (HIDE & SEEK) and Q&A with BIFA nominated Teesside producer Jen Corcoran. Come and watch an acclaimed new documentary produced with the support of the BFI Doc Society Fund (awarding National Lottery funding), meet up with fellow filmmakers, talk projects and find new collaborators.

The mixer also offers the opportunity to connect with your local reps on the ground: Jen Bradfield (Film Hub North Talent Executive), Fiona Fletcher (BFI Doc Society Support Programme Manager) as well as producer Jen Corcoran and other allies working across the independent film and documentary space in the North East.

Join us on Friday 17 February:

About the film

Nascondino (Hide & Seek) | Dir. Victoria Fiore, Prod. Aleksandra Bilic & Jen Corcoran

Since the early 2010s and in response to a rising level of youth crime, the Italian justice system has operated under a policy that allows courts to remove high-risk children from families involved in organised crime. At risk is Entoni, a rambunctious 12-year-old boy, a mischievous but sweet fixture in Naples' Spanish Quarters. His grandmother Dora is determined to steer him towards the right track despite her own criminal past.

Stunningly shot and featuring unparalleled access to the world of inner-city Naples, Nascondino (Hide and Seek) captures the spirit and soul of a neighbourhood that finds itself both maligned and glamorised. A mythological and spiritual portrait of a community's hopes and regrets, its search for redemption and the importance of family in Neapolitan life.

This a Film Hub North and BFI NETWORK event in collaboration with BFI Doc Society and Tyneside Cinema.
