Film Hub North reopens funds to support screenings, festivals and skills development in the region.

Following the launch of Screen Culture 2033 - the BFI’s new 10-year vision for UK screen culture - we’re excited to reopen our film exhibition funds for the North of England. Our funds have been redesigned in order to help local film organisations better respond to the ambitions laid out in Screen Culture 2033.

As ever, National Lottery funding will support film exhibitors to grow local audiences and present more British, independent and international cinema in their programmes. And, through our funding activity, we remain committed to championing inclusion and environmental sustainability within the film exhibition sector.

Beyond this, our updated funds will now also focus on:

  • Empowering children and young people (aged 25 and under) to develop their relationships with screen culture
  • Providing local audiences with access to stories that reflect their lives
  • Tackling social, economic and geographic barriers facing audiences
  • Introducing audiences to screen heritage collections that reflect the diversity of the UK

Our funds are open now and can support a range of activity, including professional development for cinema workers, one-off screening events, and larger-scale film programmes and festivals.
