About Film Hub North why we exist and how we work

Film Hub North aspires to lead the cultural renaissance of independent film exhibition and production in the North of England, welcoming a diverse range of film exhibitors and makers into its network and cultivating a region in which film, and film audiences, flourish.

Lead in partnership by HOME Manchester, Showroom, Sheffield and Tyneside Cinema, we champion film culture in the North of England by delivering creative, culturally-led programmes representing a diversity of voice, encouraging risk-taking amongst our network of members and by finding new ways to tell imaginative stories about the region.

As part of the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN) Film Hub North is committed to boosting diversity and inclusivity, to building a broad film culture which recognises and values the quality of difference and seeks to rebalance under-representation on screen, in the workforce and in audiences.

The Film Hub North membership organisations comprise, cinemas, cross-arts venues, community film clubs and cinemas, festivals and those working in the exhibition sector in Cheshire, County Durham, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside, Northumberland, North Lincolnshire, Tyne & Wear and Yorkshire.

All Film Hub North members share a commitment to enhancing the opportunities for people to engage with world cinema in all its diversity and to developing the cinema sector across the North of England and beyond.

Your Film Hub North Strategic Managers are Sally Folkard and Anna Kime.
